ABOUT

"Kuill is a singer/songwriter who is probably best described as Jack Savoretti meets MIKA! He has performed live on the BBC in front of 8 million people and writes for big artists around the world, but he’s a very down to earth and quiet Yorkshire lad who performs intimate gigs for his fans." - Seven Arts, Music Venue.

KUILL, a British songwriter and artist, combines electro-soul and alternative influences to create 'storytelling pop’. Never bound by genre, his focus on storytelling enables a sui generis, regenerative sound.

Most notably inspired by Brandon Flowers, The Killers, Sam Fender, Jack Savoretti, Emeli Sandé, k.d. lang & MIKA. Has previously been referred to as the lovechild of Paloma Faith & Brandon Flowers.

Kuill has been a working class musician for 15 years, performing across the country in every major theatre and Londons West End. Gary Barlow described his vocal abilities as a ‘masterclass’. Nicole Scherzinger said she wanted to marry his voice, before declaring that his voice was now ‘her husband’.

After a successful release of his debut album ‘Changing Faces’ in 2022, which charted at No.5 on the iTunes Album charts & No.1 on the Singer/Songwriter album charts, Kuill toured country wide. Kuill is now preparing to release his second album ‘Fragile Creatures’ which promises a more road trip style storytelling journey. â€‹

Kuill grew up in a council estate in Yorkshire. He describes his upbringing very loosely and cheekily as akin to Channel 4 TV Show, Paul Abbots 'Shameless'. Despite financial barriers Kuill has managed to carve a career as a professional songwriter/composer working on projects around the world for artists, short films and TV.  Due to his love of a particular songwriter, Kuill ventured into reality TV claiming a life changing prize that sent him across the country and the West End performing to hundreds of thousands of people.  When this tour finished Kuill returned to the songwriting day job and spent some time in Sweden. After a year of working on other artist projects Kuill took a career hiatus in order to adopt and raise a baby. A few years later Kuill was back and ready to make a move on propelling his career not just as a writer but an artist in his own right.  Now preparing to release and tour his second album Kuill has made a promise to his supportive fans that he is in it for the long haul.  'As many albums as it takes'.

Why the name Kuill?

Kuill is pronounced 'Quill' and is intended on meaning just that. 'A writers quill'.  It represents the 15 year old who spent his next 15 years writing and loving music.

We asked Kuill for a few sentences:

"I love music obviously, but the craft of writing a story that someone might listen to and remember forever, nothing quite hits that spot for me.  I've seen fans with tattoos of my song lyrics, I've performed live on telly, and in theatres. I've experienced crazy things for a wee Yorkshire lad. Met my idols!!  If I spend too long thinking about the opportunities I've had I become overwhelmed. I'm grateful for them, and for the support I've had in recent years.  I must dash, I'm performing a sold out gig in Leeds tonight for Russell Crowe!! The Gladiator! I'm his support act lol. Just a normal Thursday night I guess."   - Kuill X
